The celebration of Ramadan 2011 in Qatar is a great opportunity for everyone to shop and save for convenience. This is because Qatar’s Consumer Protection Department (CPD) launches a control of food price hikes through out the whole season of Ramadan 2011 in Qatar.
The total count of goods included in the freeze list this year is 267 compared from the 156 goods from last year’s list. This food price freeze campaign is expected to start tomorrow, August 1, 2011 until the end of the fasting period, tentatively on the 29th of August of the same year as per Calendar of Ramadan 2011.
All retailers are prohibited to increase prices in all goods included in the freezing list being released by CPD. As per reports from Gulf News, food items included in the list are edible oil, floor, fish and poultry products, milk, frozen vegetables, pastries and juices. Non-food items include foil paper, tissue paper and several hygiene products.
While there were few complains last year that some wholesalers kept the supply short of few items in the list, Shaikh Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani, CPD director, warns suppliers of the consequences they will be dealing once being caught. They will conduct random inspection to ensure adherence of the campaign. Shaikh Jassim said the CPD partnered with 14 retail outlets to accomplish the Ramadan 2011 campaign a success.
Everyone will surely enjoy the shopping of reduce priced goods within the season. Expect the unlimited numbers of sales and promotions in the country. The Qatar Government continues to share a good comfort of living to everyone during the holy month of Ramadan 2011 in Qatar.
