Get ready shopaholics for the newest shopping mall in Doha will soon rise in the mid of 2012. This is not going to be your ordinary shopping destination! Imagine a whooping land area of 8KM equivalent to 900,000m2 of glorious floor space. That’s an equivalent of 110 football fields.
The Economy of Qatar is indeed growing fast and vastly. An estimated budget of US $1.7bn (over QR6bn) is seen to be spent in this project to be led by a German firm Hochtief Construction. This soon to rise shopping mall in Doha, Barwa Commercial Avenue desires to develop and dedicate a street forever linked to commerce and enterprise.
Rumor has it that this is going to be their own version of Wall Street or Madison Avenue. Indeed, this is another ambitious project of the country to attract more business and investors. It won’t be long before this country will be over populated knowing that the land area isn’t much.
But of course, the more shopping malls, the merrier it is. Many shopping destination means more choices. I have no doubt that once this project is completed, people will forget the existing malls in Doha for a while.
