Doha Zoo is one of the attractions of Qatar, however not the best zoo that I likely would root for and recommend to those who love adventure. I was fortunate to visit the facilities of Doha Zoo last year with some good friends. To be honest didn’t enjoy much with the sighting of the Doha Zoo. This may be because I am from the Philippines, where zoos are huge from many different places and offer more scenery and fun than the Doha Zoo here in Qatar. Well thanks to my good friends who made sure our day is fun filled with laughter and that somehow compensated my unmet expectation of Doha Zoo.
There aren’t many animals as I hardly noticed in Doha Zoo. Though in particular, I enjoyed the feeding activity with the giraffe Other than that, it looks to me that Doha zoo isn’t that very captivating at all. Maybe to me or to someone who’ve been in different places. But maybe to the eye of a kid, the place is entirely enticing.
There were lesser number of animals from different species, fewer trees and fewer programs or activities offered. Perhaps those are few of the reason why the adventurist spirit of my side wasn’t awaken. On the other hand, Doha Zoo offers Open Farms, Cats Section, Monkeys Section, Birds Section, Desert Section, Reptiles and Insects Section.
Here are few of the photos taken during our visit:
Winter is the best season to visit Doha Zoo, and the best time would be about 3-17 to get to see some action. Zoo opens in the morning at 8-11AM and in the afternoon from 3:30 until 8:00 in summer / 2:30 to 7:00 in winter. Doha Zoo is closed on Sunday for their maintenance.
